First time training
You might have had some experience with home brewing or might be completely new to the industry and process, when starting a brewpub or microbrewery. Good training is indispensable. Anyone with highschool level physics, chemistry and biology knowledge can become an operational brewmaster without any major issues.
Key criteria for a good brewmaster are:
- Interest in the job and the process;
- Ability to follow procedures and rules;
- Person with a strong focus on cleanliness.
A first-time brewing training course includes:
- Theoretical explanation of the equipment, raw materials, process, safety in the brewery, do's and don'ts,...
- Practical brewing in the installed brewery, from beginning to end. In this phase the new brewmaster will brew together with one of our experienced brewmaster-engineers.
Furthermore we highly recommend that the brewmaster assists with the installation of the brewery so he knows the mechanics of the equipment and will understand the process a lot better.
Experienced training
When expanding a brewery, adding new equipment or changing process, additional training of the brewery, cellar or packaging operators may be necessary. SBM can provide training on theoretical, maintenance, problem-solving and practical levels.
Depending on the level of complexity this might be done by SBM engineers or external specialist we can rely upon.
Brewing seminars
SBM organizes on a regular basis brewing seminars in Belgium where brewmasters can gather and exchange ideas, recipes and experiences and discuss certain unique aspects of their brewery. These seminars consist of lectures on specific brewery related aspects and round table discussions with brewers and SBM engineers.
